If we look at our skin, what we see are the outer layers, the epidermis. But actually, the main action doesn’t happen in the epidermis, but rather in the dermis – the layer beneath the epidermis – and the key player in the dermis is a cell called the fibroblast. The fibroblast is the cell that produces collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and all the valuable molecules that make our skin tight and beautiful.

The problem is that with time, the fibroblast slows down its activity, it deactivates. If collagen is applied to the skin surface in the form of a mask or a cream, it will improve the condition of the skin but only for a few hours, because as collagen is large, it cannot penetrate the skin.
What we want is a lasting effect. In order to achieve this, we need collagen INSIDE the skin, not on the top of it, and this is possible only if we boost collagen synthesis within the dermis.

The goal of future cosmetic science will therefore to reactivate fibroblasts, so that they return to doing their job, which is to produce collagen and the molecules required to tighten the skin. By reactivating fibroblasts, we can slow down the biological aging process
